Comments by Dr. Richard Parfitt at our Annual Event on October 10, 2007
As you will notice on the notepads in the dinner favors at your place setting...we call Parfitt Plastic Surgery Center PROUD SPONSORS OF A FUND FOR WOMEN...and we ARE so very PROUD to be associated with this wonderful nonprofit. I congratulate all of you in attendance tonight because you too—like us—have caught the enthusiasm to fund programs for girls and women in need—right here at home. And, that enthusiasm is contagious—so, we intend to keep spreading the word—and we know you will too.
We got involved in A Fund For Women when we were looking for a meaningful way to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Parfitt Facial Plastic Surgery Center and our sister business, AestheticA Skin Health Center. Sure—we could have thrown a huge, super big party—but THIS—tonight—is the kind of event we feel is much more important and deserves our support.
My wife and business partner, Peggy, is now an Executive Committee member at A Fund For Women, and through her getting to know the organization from the inside out—we are more convinced than EVER—that we made the right decision in supporting A Fund For Women with a $60,000 donation over five years.
Philanthropy is not new to us. A very rewarding part of our work has been providing free consultations—and volunteering surgical services—to women who have suffered trauma or have been battered. Our facial plastic surgery center has provided free services to remove physical scars on their faces—which can help to heal the emotional wounds as well as these courageous women, move on to a better place.
And, we are now working with the Madison Police Department—to remove tattoos—at no charge—for gang members who want to get rid of obscene or gang-related tattoos as part of their efforts to turn their lives around. We are also helping inmates at the Oakwood Correctional Institution get rid of tattoos as they move forward. It takes several sessions to remove tattoos—but we feel we are making a positive difference.
We like supporting programs that have to do with Getting ON with the rest of your life—in a positive way...such as the grant recipients being announced tonight. We look forward to hearing about their progress.
Our slogan at Parfitt Facial Surgery is Dont Just Hope for Great Results—Get Them. This theme also carries over to A Fund For Women. We know the projects you fund can EXPECT GREAT results and you WILL GET them. Congratulations on your continued success. We are VERY PROUD Sponsors of a Fund For Women.
