Years giving to the Fund:
A year and a half

I started the Proud Mary Fund. It’s named after my first name (not many people know that my first name is Mary), as well as my grandmothers Mary Josephine and Mary Rose, my husband’s late mother, Mary Dilba, and my best friend’s late mother Mary Stapleton. I just thought, "Wow, I’m one of many Marys in my life."

My grandmother left me some money, and I didn’t feel comfortable having that money myself. I started it with $10,000. I wanted to do something to honor her, so I started the fund with $5,000 and my mom and dad each contributed the other $2,500. And then we had the fund.

I’m really impressed with how AFFW manages the fund as a whole, and they have a lot of support and it’s run by some great people.
