Christine DahlhauserChristine Dahlhauser: Committed to Giving Back
By: Shana R. Lewis, Lathrop & Clark LLP

Christine Dahlhauser is a partner with Baker Tilly leading the firm's Manufacturing Distribution Services Group for the Wisconsin region. In the early 1990s, when she joined the firm, a colleague introduced her to Jan Gietzel, as a businesswoman who would be a great role model for someone interested in community involvement. Anyone who knows Jan knows what happened next. Jan educated Chris about a variety of ways to give back to the community, which included making Chris aware of A Fund for Women (AFFW). Since that time, Chris has been an annual donor to AFFW.

Chris has a strong belief that her many blessings bring with them an obligation to give back. As a result, she spends a lot of time and energy giving back to the community through her work with United Way and other organizations in the community. When Chris was working with The Road Home, an organization in Dane County serving homeless families with children, she recognized a natural link between a program seeking to assist single mothers and their children find transitional, affordable housing and supportive services and AFFW. She connected the two organizations, and soon, AFFW was supporting The Road Home's efforts on behalf of women and children.

Chris continues to support AFFW because of the organization's message and focus. When you listen to Jan tell stories about discovering new issues and collaborating to support new programs, it is not hard to be impressed with AFFW. In fact, she is excited about the launch of Giving Circles, AFFW's plan to encourage women with shared interests to plan events that allow them to enjoy each other's company and at the same time, give back collectively, to AFFW.

Chris feels fortunate that she is able to support AFFW with her financial contributions. She hopes to become more active in the organization's events and committees in the future.
