About A Fund For Women Women hold unique solutions to community challenges and they recognize that financial power is critical to achieving social change. A Fund For Women is devoted to tackling the unique challenges that women and girls face throughout their lives. We do this by raising awareness among women that when they combine their financial resources through focused philanthropy, true societal change is possible.     Our History In 1993, 100 women came together at the Madison Community Foundation with the purpose of improving the lives of local women and girls by facilitating the power of women as philanthropists. Motivated by research which indicated that less than 5% of all grant funds given across the United States were given to projects for women and girls, A Fund For Women currently numbers 1600 women and men who have served as donors and volunteers. A $1.4 million endowment fund supports our grantmaking.
