Jan Gietzel
Executive Director, A Fund For Women
A Madisonian for over 40 years, Jan brings a diverse background in business, social services and health care to her role as Executive Director of AFFW.
Before joining AFFW in 2004, she, for thirteen years, was a co-owner of Basketree Gifts, Inc., a corporate gift basket service. In the 1970s, she co-founded The Registry Office Supply, the first totally women-owned office supply in Madison. She was also a principal in Hoesly & Company, Inc., a business sales and acquisition firm, and co-taught a seminar series for the UW Small Business Development Center on buying and selling a business.
Gietzel has a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy from the UW-Madison. Before her business career, she headed the UW Children's Hospital Occupational Therapy Department and was one of the thirteen interdisciplinary members of the first Madison Metropolitan School District Early Childhood Program.
She chaired the board of Madison Urban Ministry, was President of The Business Forum, and served on the board of Tempo and A Fund for Women's Executive Committee as well as being chair of her church.
Jan is passionate about all women helping women achieve their fullest potential in all aspects of their lives. She loves to meet new people and hear their life stories. She is married to Chuck Gietzel, has two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
