A FUND FOR WOMEN, a component fund of The Madison Community Foundation was established in 1993 to improve the lives of girls and women in our community. Since that first year, when a group of original visionary donors put together an endowment fund of $100,000, the fund has grown to over $1.4 million. Even more importantly, A FUND FOR WOMEN has given over $620,000 back to our community in less than 15 years.
AFFW looks at areas of challenge and opportunity and then steps in to help fund innovative solutions where previously there were problems, deficits or simply nothing at all. In the process, lives are changed for the better and not just for the recipients of our grants.

What we've learned is that when women get together to study problems, analyze solutions and pool their assets, amazing things happen and we all benefit. At its heart, A FUND FOR WOMEN is about women helping women.
Many of us are drawn to AFFW because it provides a leadership model for thoughtful, collaborative, proactive grant-making in the Madison area. The community members who invest in the organization through their gifts of intellect, time and dollars are leaders in identifying and addressing emerging, gender-based issues in the Dane County area. Because the fund is flexible, dynamic, creative and effective, it has a history of attracting the attention and loyalty of some of our most progressive and involved citizens. Won't you join us?
Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
